Title: GPU-based Collision Detection for 3D virtual environment application

 

In this project, student is about to create a model of 3D virtual environment and enhance the performance of collision testing using both CPU and GPU systems. Student is required to have at least C/C++ understanding in order to develop the virtual environment application.

Title: High Definition Car Video Camera Capture with Online Storing system using 3G data connection.

 

In this project, student is required to create a car video camera capture using High Definition camera and connected wirelessly to the remote computer using 3G data connection. Student is required to have understanding of video capturing devices and 3G data connection background.

Title: Online Room Booking

 

  • In this project, student is required to have at least:-

basic knowledge of web programming/database OR

Willing to learn web programming of HTML/PHP/database

  • User can choose from several list of rooms and then view the calendar of current chosen room. Then, user can book the room by choosing time block (1 hour each from 9.00 am to 11.00 pm). Then, an email will be sent to the person in charge in order to get the approval. Once the booking has been made (before approval), the current time block will be grey out in order to prevent other user from booking the same time as the first user. After approval, the grey time block will be marked as blue block to represent the time block has been approved by the person in charge.
  • Objective(s):-

To promote an online solution for traditional room booking

To increase the efficiency of the management to handle room booking

To develop a system that more reliable and robust for staff

Title: Particles and Static Terrain Distance Computation

 

  • In this project, student is required to have at least:-

Basic knowledge/Willing to learn of Visual C++ 2012

Interest to sharpening programming skills

OpenGL and Computer Graphics interest

  • In this project student is required to program a distance computation algorithm that could calculate each particle distance with the static terrain. Given more than a hundred particles, the student will measure each individual particle distance with the terrain and comparing with common method of checking each individual particle with all the terrain vertex point that are not accurate. Student can show that our algorithm can give significant results that by finding the midpoint of terrain vertex, we could find the nearest point to calculate distance between the particle and the terrain.
  • Objective(s):-

To study the behavior of particle in real-time 3D graphics simulation

To develop a novel algorithm of distance computation between dynamic and static object

To verify and validate the algorithm in real-time game simulation.

1. Dapat pengalaman dan idea sebaik mungkin semasa latihan industri. Mana tahu anda akan dapat idea yang bernas dan boleh di”combine”kan dengan rekaan anda nanti.

2. Buat masa sepanjang bulan Jun – Awal September ini. Saya mahu anda dapatkan interest melalui Youtube Video (Lihat Video baru best dan timbul idea)

jadi, pergi ke Youtube dan dapatkan idea mengenai apa2 project

3. Antara idea-idea yang saya lontarkan

a) Wireless Controlled Underwater vehicle/ROV

– Di mana setelah anda buat ROV tersebut, kita akan attachkan kamera dan kita dapat melihat gambar di dalam air melalui skrin komputer = sesuai untuk cari mangsa lemas dan juga ikan di dasar laut

b) Develop your own PIC Compiler using Visual Basic 2010.

– Kita buat perisian menggunakan Basic Language dan kemudian kita boleh burn to PIC menggunakan software kita

c) Smart Entrance for Workers. Ada ciri-ciri wireless communication jugak tu.

– Sebelum ini orang masuk kerja asyik kena tag kad aje. Sekarang kita buat macam smart tag kereta. Worker tu just bawak aje dalam kadnya di badan. Kita boleh detect bila masuk entrance tu. Project ni macam buat detector macam kat entrance airport.

d) Augmented Reality Application – ada ciri2 wireless jugak.

– Macam yang saya terangkan, kita guna Visual C++ dan OpenGL kemudian Augmented Reality library. DIsini perlukan motivasi untuk programming. Walaupun tidak hebat programming saat awalnya, tetapi jika motivasi lagi tinggi, pasti anda boleh jadi programmer yang baik.

– Projek ini macam ni, katakan anda ada webcam. Kemudian di webcam tu rakam satu area yang kosong. Dekat PC anda, ada paparan objek2 3D.

– Kemudian, kita akan extendkan di mana, kita boleh ukur panjang objek tersebut menggunakan webcam tersebut secara real-time

– selain itu kita introduce algorithm untuk detect edge(garisan) untuk object tersebut

Anda ada banyak masa, sehingga bulan September 2012 untuk decide dan cari bahan. lagi awal lagi bagus dan kita boleh hantar paper IEEE lagi. pasti kuat anda punya PSM jika ada paper IEEE dalam Seminar 1 (dalam bulan 12, 2012) nanti. Untuk tulis paper saya akan guide kamu sentiasa.
